Useful? I think that very few of us will ever really use this program. It is supposed to be the best of its kind, but that does not make it a keeper. To me, it is typically a gadget program. When I need drivers I go to the developer's site.

I think Driver Magician is really good. What a great Giveawayoftheday. A freeware alternative is Double Driver.

Useful for Me
Convenient way to back-up and save for reinstalls.I used to go the manufacturer's website route, but spending an hour at the Intel site going in circles doesn't cut it. Dell, for instance, hasn't updated their drivers for nearly two years.I've found several drivers from this and other programs that I was able to install successfully to solve a variety of issues, and in some cases, improve the overall performance of my rig(s).It's a personal choice on this type of utility, but it's well worth it once you have used them and understand their workings and benefits.

I am glad that you had good use for it, maybe I sounded a bit negative. The hardware I have comes from vendors with excellent support. I installed DriverMagician years ago, and DriverMax on another PC, but neither of them I ever used, and in my opinion they just add to the clutter of installed programs. But that is just my experience, Detailer, you are right there.

I tried a Driver Magician build given away before, but I don't remember running it again.
I know how oft-repeated "free alternative" suggestions can steer a thread off-topic, but has anyone heard about Device Doctor, which purportedly employs a different approach to accomplish the same job?

I also saw a cursory review about Device Doctor by forum member COMPUTELOGY in his own blog.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to read about Device Doctor yet.
