i was using the windows live messenger 2009 that was installed from the windows live costume installer, but few days ago they released a new build so i updated my wlm using this:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...senger-9.shtml

since that i was getting error code 80040154, i tried every solution on the net but nothing worked so i uninstalled it and when trying to install it again this problem showed up!

no wonder the offline package does not work porperly. just download that MSI package and right click and select uninstall. it will uninstall. then reinstall using the wlm-custom exe.

You need a Deep_scan removal tool.. I once got some issue with MSN messenger and the development team sent me these tools. I'm not sure if you can find it via google but after 1 hour search of the tools (dang it -.-"), I upload them for you:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/19884910..._DeepClean.zip
    It is 9kB in size.

Run the 4 files one by one. After you have done double-clicking those, your PC will uninstall everything related to MSN just like you never install WLM before. Good luck

Edit: The tools are from WLM development team itself. So don't be hesitant to try them as it is 100% safe and I have tried them before
