    IE8 crashing on some websites...

Ever since I downloaded the final version of IE8, I have been using it as my default browser.

It has been working relatively well. The javascript and page rendering seems to have sped up, despite the initial delay to run the first instance.

Despite all the good progress, I do feel that it was a rushed final release, as I'm sure it's still full of bugs, also the menus seem messy (cluttered with new options) etc...

One of the good things with IE8 is the separate process per tab, as implemented in Google Chrome. Which means when 1 tab crashes, it doesn't shut down the whole browser.

The main problem I've been experiencing with IE8 is that it keeps crashing on certain sites. On some computers it crashes more frequently.

For example, I just tried to navigate to http://www.students.autodesk.com/
and the page crashes in the middle of loading.

    Attached is the error message.

I've also tried it using IE8 in safe-mode, in case it was an add-ons issue, but it crashes the same way.
Btw, I'm using compatability view permanently.

Has anyone been getting such problems? Any generic work-arounds?

Yes, IE8 is still very buggy. It crashes on my PC frequently. Seems like MS released IE in a hurry.

Do keep updating IE via Windows Update for some patches from MS. Until then, there's nothing much you can do about it as IE crashes even in safe mode.

The funny thing is that they are pushing IE8 as a high priority windows update any day.... Most probably for it's improved security features I guess.

For a novice user, IE8 has too many advanced options. Many sites have compatibility issues, hopefully newbies work out how to turn on compatibility mode.

The good thing these days is that we have alternative good browser options... If something doesn't work on one, then it may work on the other.

I always keep my IE, Firefox and Chrome up-to-date. But IE is my preferred choice.

Yes, I also noticed that IE8 crashes on some websites (in my case it is aol.com), but I do not use IE often, so it is not a big deal for me.

I tried to access http://www.students.autodesk.com/ but IE8 did not crash.

I remembered one of my customer having crashes about urlmon.dll long ago but can't remember exactly how I fixed it. Few suggestions:

    1. Enable compatibility view
    2. Reset Internet Explorer settings
    3. run sfc /scannow command
    4. Uninstall IE8 and reinstall
    5. Repair Windows :P

I don't like the way in which Microsoft forces IE to Windows users. Almost every page of their site is broken in other browsers.
History shows that MS especially hate Opera browser.
