Not to take anything away from the program but I think its too big and bulky for an app that just fixes some registry strings you can make a simple .bat/.reg/.vbs file

Also I get alot of crash errors when trying to pick certain items in the program (running WindowsXP Pro)

    http://whatsmypass.com/files/enabler.exe
When i first read about this app back in september I made my own app to do the same thing pretty much , except its smaller in size and doesnt need .net dependancies etc
it's 13kb only because I added some .wav files and icons to the app It was originally 5kb before i made it prettier

I was hoping with your newer version you would have gotten the filesize down but it seems to have gotten a little buggier
like if I start the app and deselect all then just pick task manager it alerts me that I dont have anything checkmarked. or if I got to Tools menu and choose edit ini, inf, bat it crashes. And the autorun.inf scanner takes forever too scan when it should only be scanning the root of your attached drives, it seems like its trying to scan everything.

again just take this as me trying to help , not to put down your work

thanks for alerting me about the bugs ,when i tested it i didnt find any ,and the reason why autorun scan takes so long is that it does scan the full drive ,whilst testing virus`s i found a few that put autorun files all over ,just tried the deselect all and then select task manager ,the bug didnt appear

even though autorun.inf found all over theyre useless unless in the base of an inserted drive/cd so it would save time to just scan the root of drives

the machine I tested for bugs was winxp pro sp3, ill have to test on my win7 box tomorrrow to see if any exist there

can i just ask when did u download re-enable v2? ,just that the first release of version 2 did have a few bugs which i fixed. also what did you code your enabler in?

Re-enable V2.0.0.1 has been extensively tested on Xp sp2 ,Xp Sp3 ,Vista Sp1 and Seven ,so if you do find any bugs ,i am sure that u will let me know.

Ps. ill sort the autorun scanner

Edit. found the bug ,its on task scheduler ,this will be fixed in the next version

Report a bug in version 2 portable.

Whenever I check for updates, it will tell me error and it keep popping a few times. I meant one is enough right? You don't need to go like 5 times on me.

It told me to check my internet connection and firewall. I have disable my firewall and it still threw up that error. Hope you can fix it.

Could you please post on your website when re-enable was updated (the date) then at least then we all know whther we have the lates version or not. Include in mda5 on the download page.

no updates as yet... and i had that error a few times when testing it ,from what i could tell it was only in the portable version and kaspersky was to blame if i remember right ,and as for it popping up 5 times its just done it on me on the portable version ,but fine on dotNet ,thanks ill sort this asap

Note all updates will be posted here.

Edit: looks like xenocode is at fault as theres no difference in the code between DotNet and Portable

I run that on my laptop (Not running KIS 2010) with PC tools firewall and windows firewall off, it still gave me the error.

I am running the 22mb version by the way.

glad to say i have fixed this issue

the problem was stairing me in the face the whole time and i couldnt see it
over the weekend i have been trying to fix this ,i changed the code and it still failed ,I will explain how the update check works, first it gets the current file version and puts that in a string ,then attempts to goto my website and get the file version of the current and then compares them

where i went wrong was i forgot to change the variable that gets the current version ,well it was looking for "Re-Enable.exe" instead of "Re-Enable V2 Portable.exe" which resulted in a error which in turn trigged "check internet" error ,i also included a time out which if it timed out then it would repeat 5 times hence the error showed 5 time... its now fixed!

Also Fixed selecting task scheduler on its own no longer alerts that its not selected
