dunno if its classed as technical ,but i am a registered beta tester with ms ,was same for vista to ,i get emails everyday from ms on windows 7

haha I already got a windows 7 home premium key. It came with my new PC as that PC has windows vista home premium.

If you buy one now that includes windows vista you get a special card with it (or you can get one onlline) that will allow you to upgrade your existing version of vista to the same version of windows 7.

If you bought a machine in July this year, yes. If you had it prior...no. As far as the 'free' upgrades to Beta testers, it only applies to those that M$ actually invited to B-test for them, or those who are subscribers ($349/yr) to TechNet. For the rest of us, there will also be a 'Family Pack' offer that covers 3 PCs in your household. I have encountered them at $135 on the web.

EDIT: Family pack is only available for Home Premium version.

Re-edit: for those of you who have heard disclaimers to the 'family pack' offering, I will provide you with some evidence:
Google "Product Code GFC-00236" and see what you find!
