How to boot Ubuntu from USB

    Hi

I have a friend who purchased a 2go Kingston data traveller 2go having live ubuntu 9.04 installed.

So he tried to boot but was not in success since everytime he booted on his windows xp sp3 after choosing all the below booting options:

    USB-FDD
    USB-Zip
    USB-CDROM
    USB-HDD

    His motherboard is GA P35_DS3L

    So how to solve it.

He is only a simple pc user!

You may not have put the linux on the flash drive properly.

    May be this can help

    http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/...n-boot-to-usb/

Just substitute the kon boot image with the ubuntu iso.

And for usb flash drives, USB-HDD mode needs to be used.

    Hi Faizulhu

The key is not mine, he purchased the key with Ubuntu live already installed and he was with no success in booting. He lives far away from my house like 4 hours away! so I cant go to help him! The ex owner of the key confirmed to him by email that is bootable? So I guess may be he has to make his pc linux friendly to boot or maybe a tweak in windows bios is necessary?

not all pcs n laptops can boot from usb ,my laptop will boot from usb if its less than 1gb stick ,my 4gig stick has backtrack 3 live on it and wont boot on my laptop ,but this shouldnt bother newer laptops ,find the make n model of his and see on there website if its supported ,maybe a bios update would sort it ,also try the usbsitick on another newer machine.
