No ad in linux..
This was a small observation i made and i would be happy to know the reason..

when i browse the forum in windows 7 using firefox i have several ads(like a word underlined
and it links to another page.,,,kontera,,,) but when i browse forum in ubuntu 9.10 with
firefox
i dont see any such ads...shall i know why?? i have observed this in other forums too
NOTE::I have ad block plus installed in both.

That's probably because you have not blocked Google text ads in Windows using the hosts file...see this:
Block Google, MSN (Windows Live) and Yahoo Ads using Hosts File
I don't know about Ubuntu...perhaps Google text ads are automatically blocked in it?They call me the mysterious one...
my motto is...when it's hot, chill baby

Nope. Chances are good you haven't installed Flash and Java, which is why it's not showing up. I had that happen too, until I installed both, now they both pop up unless I've got Ad-Block Plus on.

The use of installing Java is that some sites need it to run properly. There are also some games that need it too.
If you Google 'Falling Sand Game' you'll find an example of a game that needs Java.

If you use WOT, you will also need Java (unless they have changed it).
