Windows7 for netbook, any experience?
During visit up gradation link of Windows7 for laptop of my brother I came across with one link of Upgradation to windows7 for netbook (which actually having windowsXP) i.e. Here .
As I also have a netbook of Lenovo just I'm wondering if any of our member have did this and experienced it as it will be better to have practical experience suggestion then written review of same company.
Thanks in advance to all of you for that." Birds Can Fly Because They Take themselves Lightly ! "

my tweaked windows 7 takes up about 600 while idle without any programs..and tweaked xp takes about 125mb while its idle without running any programs,i would leave your notebook as xp for performance issues...net book usually has 1 processor, and max 1gb of ram......and some crappy graphics card and monitor.....even if you upgrade to windows 7 u wont be able to use the most out of it, not to mention the performance drag....
i wouldnt upgrade to windows 7 if i were uhttp://small-anime.blogspot.com/ for my latest 60Mb Mini Mkv's encodes/uploads

agree with muaan - my little acer cheapie netbook runs just great with xp .... I do love Windows 7, but it needs more hardware than xp - just crippling the netbook needlessly by running Win7 on it.
Any new netbooks being sold with Win7 have only the 'basic' (stripped down to the bare bones) version on them.
Maybe one day when I am very bored I will make an image of the netbook c: drive, and try win7 on it....

If you have XP installed, treasure it by all means. Windows 7 has been grossly overvalued, also on this forum by people with otherwise great expertise. It clouded my judgement. I spent hundreds of bucks buying W7 and have lived to regret it.

Keep your XP. Only use Win 7 if you have a good computer or else you will not be able to enjoy its eye-candy (aero effect only in home premium, professional and ultimate)
@Kees, why is that?Thoughts are like a never ending ocean where it is deep, endless and dangerous

I have W7P running on a laptop and on a quite new machine (with lots of memory and a fast processor) and find it very slow compared with my old XP machines. I am not given to eye-candy, in fact I detest it: a screen should be sober and minimalistic. W7 has some features not found in XP, but few and most of these have deliberately been designed in a way that we cannot use them in XP, with no other reason than to get us to move to Vista, W7, you name it. DirectX 10 for instance could easily have been designed for use in XP also.

7's only value comes from moving from Vista. Otherwise, you're right, there is no point.

In my country some samsung netbooks are sold with Win7 Starter pre-installed...so you can install Win7 if you want, your netbook might handle it quite well I guess...but I don't think it's worth it since Win7 Starter lacks some main features...

Screw Google! Ask me!

Two words for windows 7 Starter. It SUCKS.
If you were to ask me between Xp and Win 7 Starter, I will say XP. Cause it look nicer.
By the way, I like XP and Win 7Last edited by LunarWolf; 03-21-2010 at 10:19 AM.
