Browser Speed Tests: Firefox 3.6, Chrome 4, Opera 10.5, and Extensions
Firefox 3.6 is out, Chrome's stable version got a big upgrade, and Opera 10.5 is inching toward release. It's a great time for us to break out the timer, process manager, and code tracker for some up-to-date browser speed tests.

Try uninstalling and installing it fresh... I find that helped a lot in the ram usage here.

About 150 mbs with 7 tabs (all Raymond.cc tabs, ironically). It would be more if I was using flash, but I don't see it go too much above that, topping out at that when I've got like 60 tabs open.

I'm using Firefox 3.6...
With 8 tabs for different technology sites/blogs, 2 Raymond.cc tabs and 2 tabs for random Youtube videos, Firefox is using 156MB RAM (Task Manager)...
And usually I open up to 50 tabs at a time and Firefox takes up 250MB. My highest record was 90+ tabs...and Firefox took nothing more than 350MB...
And mind you, I've got 21 add-ons
(although admittedly, I don't use all the add-ons at the same time and I've carefully hand-picked the add-ons so that they do not conflict with one another)
It's either my Firefox is nicely tweaked or something's wrong with Firefox on noaccount's PC...how many add-ons have you got noaccount? Are you using any developer add-ons cause from what I've seen on other sites/forums, developer add-ons can take up lots of RAM (e.g. FireBug)...
P.S. This is one of the reasons why I'm still sticking onto Firefox...Google Chrome can easily take up 200-300MB RAM with only a few tabs open...yikes!They call me the mysterious one...
my motto is...when it's hot, chill baby

i have 23 adons +3 disabled (i'm unable to uninstall) and 6 plugins inc.java, flash, acrobat, silverlight, wmp plugin... yes i have firebug but it's suspended so i think it wont consume any resources ? wot, adblock and lastpass are resource hungry acording to google chrome task manager, i also suspect of noscript and flashgot... you guys know something like google task manager for FF?

Not that I know of.
Silverlight would be a major flaw as well... same with the WMP Plugin, but that's my bias against MS.

well i do need them...

extra mb's are explained then, i forgot to mention i also started using a personas theme... and some of my extensions are probably not optimized for this FF version bcoz i'm using them in compatibility mode...
