    Language bar is missing-help

    This is actually my friend's problem but I think it will worth some discussion here. Her language bar is missing and couldn't reappear even I tried to configure the language bar to be docked in the taskbar and show text label from control panel. I tried to search through google and no answer for this issue.Might it be virus attack? I ran scan with rkill and malwarebytes but the result appears that her computer is clean.Any idea to solve this?Thanks.

    even I tried to configure the language bar to be docked in the taskbar and show text label from control panel
    I'm assuming you did this.......
    START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > REGIONAL & LANGUAGE
    OPTIONS > LANGUAGES > DETAILS > PREFERENCES

    Now apart from that try this : turn on the Language bar, follow these steps:

    Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages page - click Details
    But first on Advanced page *uncheck* 'Turn off Advanced Text
    facilities': it must be *not* checked,
    then Apply, then on the main page click 'Language Bar' and enable it.

    Also, a registry fix for that is :
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}]
    @="Language bar"
    "MenuTextPUI"="@%SystemRoot%\\System32\\msutb.dll,-325"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories\{00021492-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\InProcServer32]
    @="C:\\WINDOWS\\System32\\msutb.dll"
    "ThreadingModel"="Apartment"

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000
    Save this quote as a .reg file and double click it. I think this should be enough for you....still get back if you need more help.
    If nothing else works, open command prompt and type 'del C:\Windows'

    My firend's laptop is running windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.
    @bonishah88: Your suggestion here-
    Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages page - click Details
    But first on Advanced page *uncheck* 'Turn off Advanced Text
    facilities': it must be *not* checked,
    then Apply, then on the main page click 'Language Bar' and enable it.
    is actually refer to windows xp?

    Besides, I tried to look into the registry string and compare to the one provided by you above, I notice there is some different.Some keys are there, but value is a bit different while some is not there.Could this be due to different operating system?
    By the way, is there any other way to solve this problem?Thanks.

    I had the language bar in top-middle position of the screen all the time, which was very annoying, so I clicked it to hide, but now it is gone altogether.

    Windows 7-Prem32

    Actually...it was for XP only....since the OS was not mentioned i assumed it to be XP....my bad....i dont have any other method right now will get back when i find something....

    UPDATE : found this on a forum, am pasting it word to word here....see if this helps.....

    How about if I walk you through step by step so that it will help not only you but others reading this thread too. More over others in the Forum can add their comments and support if I make any errors. So everyone can benefit. Is that OK? It can be a very simple series of Q & A , mostly Yes/No type of answers.
    Do you have Win 7-7100 RC ENGLISH version installed in this PC?
    Is that a different Language version of Windows 7 7100RC ?
    Is it Win 7 Beta Build?
    Have you been able to choose your Language and Add... by navigating through Control Panel======> Change Keyboards...=>Text Services and Input Languages dialog box's General tab?
    Did you see the Default language English [EN]there?
    Did you click the Language Bar tab in Text Services and Input Languages dialog box?
    Did you choose first or second radio button (0) as to how you wanted Language bar displayed? 3rd radio button is to hide .
    (o) Floating On Desktop
    (o) Docked in taskbar
    (o) Hidden
    In the bottom section did you check/tick the box [ ] Show text labels in the language bar
    In the Advanced Key Settings tab,did you make your choice on Hotkeys
    Did you click Apply>OK buttons of Text Services and Input Languages dialog box at the end of all entries?
    If so, you should see the previously described changes in the Notification area
    Hope this helps you to do it yourself.
    If problem is encountered please post exact problem in a few words.
    Thank you.

    @Bonishah88: thanks for your help.It's amazing but I would like to say the link posted on your post:
    solved the problem.
    To make it clearer,it's the method 2 that solved the issue. For the sake of others who face the same issue, I will quote it here, but all credits to Bonishah88 who discovered the the page and the original writer.

    run "regedit.exe". Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN. Right Click on blank space in right side, select New String Value.Again right click on newly created value and press modify, then type : “ctfmon”=”CTFMON.EXE”. Press OK, restart your computer. Now you can see the language bar in vista or Windows 7.
    Thanks a lot for those who visited this thread and special thanks to Bonishah88 for the useful tips and solutions to this issue. It solved the problem.Thanks.
