Hi friends, i am from India and i use state owned broadband service for internet. its too good. earlier i used ADSL modem, but recently i came across type-4 modem (ADSL modem 2+router) which has both an ethernet port and a wireless antenna. i use my toshiba satellite a-80 laptop and i have no PC at present. i want to use the WSi-Fi enabled modem which gets me free of wire. i could not connect to broadband through Wi-Fi, though my laptop detected wireless network. i couldnot set up the connection wizard too. kindly help.

Isn't there a manual that comes with the wi-fi modem which you can read?

Ya i too have the same problem with my friends laptopb and my wireless modem. The pictorial representation in windows vista shows that the network session between the laptop and modem was successful but not the session between the modem and internet.

And by the way is there any kind of drivers need to be installed to access internet through WiFi?

No drivers are needed. As long as you've configured the correct DNS and also entered the correct WEP or WPA key, then you should be able to browse the internet.

Most importantly, check your DNS settings.

Thanks Raymond, i got this query about the driver since i use drivers for connecting through USB from my modem.

IP/DNS was set to be detected automatically. It I haven't noted DNS i just used "ipconfig" command without any switch to ensure my IP. To avoid complexity just temporarily i was not usin any WEP/WPA stufz.

Next time i get access to that laptop i'll ensure that DNS is configured properly and will post the outcome here.
