Hi
Today I was trying to open System Configuration Editor, so I opened Run -> sysedit -> OK. But I got the following error msg.
---------------------------
16 bit Windows Subsystem
---------------------------
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
---------------------------
Close Ignore
---------------------------
Next I clicked Ignore and then System Configuration Editor opened for a second and then closed. I guessed that there might be some virus which is preventing sysedit to be opened and I checked my task manager and found three new processes - wowexec.exe, sysedit.exe and ntvdm.exe.
Then I checked process explorer and AnVir task manager but the processes sysedit.exe and wowexec.exe were not shown, only ntvdm.exe was shown. Why is that??? Also can someone tell me why did I get that 16 bit Windows Subsystem error msg and if my pc is infected with a virus or trojan or something else. I used Kaspersky to scan but I didn't find any viruses (I scanned system32 folder only)
When I do "End process tree" on ntvdm.exe, all the three processes are killed.
Thanx!

I think you can sleep sound tonight.
wowexec.exe and ntvdm.exe provides an environment for a 16 bit process which you run on a 32 platform. Sysedit is such a process.
PS. Run mscofig instead.I refuse to tip toe through life only to arrive safely at death

Hmmm, no one really uses sysedit nowadays. MSCONFIG would be better.
