Everytime I insert a CD into my cd-drive my computer restarts

Whenever I insert a cd into my cd-drive my computer restarts after some time I scanned my computer with avast pro but found no viruses what could be the problem?

its it the same cd or the different one ? does this cd load flash when it starts ?
which cd drive are you using and when did this problem actually started ?

Do you receive any error messages after your pc restarts etc like BSOD ?

My computer restarts when I insert any CD with programs but I managed to rip some music from a audio-cd and my cd-drive is Optiarc DVD-RW and I don't get any error messages when my PC starts

now can you hear the disc roatating before it restarts, there may be power problems

1 check power cable "use another if possible" "then power lead that connects to the cd/dvd drive"
2 check the ide cable or sata "use another if u have one"
3 borrow another cd/dvd drive and see if the problem is still there...
4 turn off autoplay
5 disable automatic restart
if none of the above work replace the psu, my bet is its number 3 ,but im a loney pc engineer that does this for a living..:D

I deleted some corrupt microsoft office 2003 installation files and today I was able to copy some cds I don't know whether my problem is solved

well does your computer restart when you put the disc in 'cause wasn't that your problem with you pc

I had a similar problem with my old comptuer, never found out what the problem was though.
