I presume you mean 14GB disk space. Files with the extension .old is what we used to know as .bak. I take it the file was created during the fresh install and that you did not format the disk. If you get an access denied error message you probably are not the owner of the file and need to take ownership.

re: ownership
cheers for the reply , i have taken ownership with full control, still a no goer, i,ve tried deleting individual files ,but just scratching the surface, need to get rid of this or disk kill is the only way forward, if this the case what drivers do i need to download and burn to cd to go with the install cd. after using kill disk. cheers

try wintools.net ,its software that will remove unnecessary files like .old or .bak or other utils like tuneup 2008 ,however u could boot in to safe mode and delete em from there ,or enable the hidden admin account and delete em ,First you'll need to open a command prompt in administrator mode by right-clicking and choosing "Run as administrator" (or use the Ctrl+Shift+Enter shortcut from the search box) then type net user administrator /active:yes ,then log out and u will see the admin account
Out of my mind. I Haven't Lost My Mind, It's Backed Up On Disk Somewhere.
