Since most of the programs or apps posted here are freeware, I thought this might come in handy. Most of the time, theses "freeware" has some kind of catches in their End User License Agreement, EULA. One good example was Google Chrome's old EULA which in it's own words:
Quote:
|
give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and nonexclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services."
|
Sounds scary right? It means that Google will have the rights to reproduce
anything that you view or post online by just using Google Chrome. Thankfully, Google has released a new EULA which significantly does much change to the old version.
Now, considering the fact that most of us constantly search the Web for freebies, we hardly pay any attention to the EULAs during each installation. Therefore, with this in mind,
Javacoolsoftware has come up with a EULA anaylzer program that will inform the user of any "interesting" lines in the EULA. This will be a lot better than going through the endless list of the full EULA. I found an online EULA analyzer at
Spywareguide just recently, that does the same only that it is still in beta-stage.

Being programs and not able to understand the EULAs like normal humans, some lines might not be read properly. However, this sure beats reading the whole EULA. Therefore, choose your software vendors properly and download safe.
ps: There are some other programs developed by Javacoolsoftware that might be of interest to some.
Doc Scrubber especially got my interest. I don't wan to create a new thread as I might be spamming the whole "General Forum" with my threads.
