I've seen a few different programs that claim to enlarge an image, but all that does is replace the pixels that were lost in the size increase. It uses technology to fill in what color pixels it thinks belongs in an area. You can never truly increase the size of an image without destroying the resolution.

But I suppose it's not bad for trying to enlarge an image - you for sure won't get the full resolution that you would with an image created with more pixels, dimensions and resolution.

Has someone tried to see how good this really works? If it works well, I think this is a great promise!

check findingmyzens post. basically that's this app does. There are soem photoshop plugins which do the same thing albeit with different algorithms to guess the similar colored pixels around the area.

there are a number free apps that do this well, including irfanview, xnview, fastone resizer (gui is not nice but powerful), riot (also available as irfanview plugin)... but i actually tend to avoid those where i cannot control resolution and output format (and don't have batch capabilities).

I have this one already and can tell everyone it actually works better than the screen shot shows.
Mine however calls itself SmillaEnlarger in the top right corner instead of Image enlarger.
Different versions maybe? I'll have to go now and make sure mine is the up to date one!

for Photoshop CS4 user, just use the content-aware feature

    - it's even more impressive than most of the free apps available.
