    Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended problem

I just got myself a copy of Afobe Photoshop CS4 extended. The thing is I installed it on my laptop and use it with no problem.

However when I install and use it on the desktop, it gave me a problem.

Whenever I try saving a picture, it WILL NOT SAVE in JPEG format.

It will only save in JPEG format if I end the name with .jpeg

I believe it cannot save in many other format as well. The only format it could save was in Photoshop format and tif (as far as I tested it out.I haven't tested other format)

On my laptop, I save it in jpeg format, it could save.

    What should I do?

    Do a clean install?

Before this I had Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Thoughts are like a never ending ocean where it is deep, endless and dangerous

I encountered the same problem before ~ but later to found out it was a bug error...

It is recommended to download and install the latest Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update

The Adobe® Photoshop® CS4 11.0.1 update addresses a number of issues discovered after Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended (11.0) software were released

    Installation Instructions

To install the Photoshop 11.0.1 update:
    1. Disable all virus protection software.
    2. Ensure that the folder on your hard drive containing Photoshop is named "Adobe Photoshop CS4."
    3. Double-click the "Adobe Photoshop Updater" application. If the updater reports that it cannot find the application to update, uninstall Photoshop CS4, reinstall the application (using the default folder name "Adobe Photoshop CS4"), and then run the updater.
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

    ---------------------------

Please remember that JPEG format option is only available when the image is 8 Bits/Channel (it only supports 8 Bit/Channel).

    CS4 Menu Bar -> Image -> Menu -> choose 8bits/Channel

Save a file in JPEG format

    Download CS4 Help

    Photoshop CS4 Help pdf.

It is already in 8bit. I just checked.

EDIT : I rerun the installer over again without uninstalling, it didn't help.

I download and install the update, it didn't help.

The funny thing was I tried the photoshop both on my and my sis laptop, it could work. (I use the same installer for my desktop, laptop and my sis laptop)

Should I just uninstall the whole thing and do a clean install?

My computer specs are as below :

    Windows XP Pro SP3
    Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 2.40GHz
    512 RAM
I have free space 39+Gb on my C drive
    NVDIA GeForce FX5200

Is that enough to run Adobe Photoshop Extended CS4?

Broadband Internet connection required for online services*
I wont use Photoshop Cs4 for that specs ( not even Cs3 ) rather go back to Cs2 instead. You don't need Cs4 if your only going to use it for simple editing and intermediate pixel manipulations.

That is only for the core program and for basic editing capability but to harness its full potential? It's only a pain to your box believe me, those new functionalities offered by Photoshop Cs4 are for professional user only, though some novices could take advantage of it but through steep learning curve...

Also don't forget to configured your Photoshop settings to make it run faster...
