Missing Icon for External Hard Drive

My computer does not recognize my external hard drive icon when I plugged my external hard drive into my laptop.

The external hard drive should have a "Western Digital" icon but instead my laptop does not recognize the drive.

Try formatting the drive. It might help. Or if you have any autorun file at the root of the folder, then this might be the problem. Disable the "hide hidden files" and look for the file.

Inform us if the above didn't work out.

That's due to infected or modified autorun.inf file. Delete it fro the drive. (Or modify it. The Western Digital icon might have been deleted in your drive or moved.)

Run CCleaner once and restart your system to see the icon again

Yeap, it is mostly caused by autorun.inf

Hit Win+R key to bring up the Run command, then type this command and click OK.
    attrib -H -S f:\autorun.inf | del f:\autorun.inf
