Macbook optical drive...
On Saturday, my Macbook ate my Sims 2 disc, and wouldn't give it back. I tried every single hint/help guide I could find on the internet, until I finally bit the bullet and used a credit card to prevent the disc from spinning, and it finally ejected it.
Still unconvinced that this wasn't something that couldn't be solved without having to replace the optical drive, I re-inserted discs in an effort to find a viable remedy for the situation.
Nothing worked!
Until today I attempted to burn a DVD using iDVD, and it worked! It's recognising all discs again.
So (finally), my question is, would preventing the disc from spinning by holding it down using a credit card have badly damaged the disc drive? It's really worrying me. I'm worry that I've damaged it's ability to rotate the discs, and that it will go at another point.
Yeah, I sound whiny and paranoid, but it'd be bloody typical that its breakdown was just a minor blip, and that I've just damaged it by trying to fix it.
Any comments, including ones telling me to shut up, would be greatly appreciated!
