Is autorun disabled? Try turning it on.

I remember using Panda USB Vaccine and losing my cd drive.

Check the Device Manager. If there is a yellow exclamation mark, then it is detected but cannot install properly. If nothing at all, then try other USB ports.

i've tried all the usb ports and nothing at all have shown not even a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager.
i think the external hard drive is not generating enough power to run it.
any idea
thank you

When I first installed an esata boot to run a HDD externally, my PC wouldn't recognize the device, until I ran a "scan for hardware changes". This is located under "Computer Management", "System Tools", "Device Manager". Click the "Action tab" right next to the "File tab" at the top of the screen and then click "scan for hardware changes" with the device plugged in. Hope this works for you.
