Problem with Sata HD...error 1117
Hi, new to this site....
I have a Sata hdd that cannot be formatted in any way, nor can MBRFIX.EXE do anything to it. Shows up with no partitions and no driveletter. It had Vista on it and crashed, now I can't access it in any way.
When I use HP's USB FORMAT TOOL (SP27608.exe) it can see the hdd (WD1600BEVS), but gives the error "drive media is write-protected".
When using MBRFIX.EXE /drive 1 listpartitions I get
"Function failed. Error 1117, I/O-error"
Can anyone tell me if there's any way I can get it formatted? I can't think of anything else. By the way - In both PQ-magic AND the administration it doesn't even show up on the list of drives.
Will wait for a suggestion to what to try next.
Best Regards
Liz

Your HDD may already be broken. Try reading its SMART data to check your drive's health.
