do you have any anti-virus or internet security?
- 12-11-2008 #5
i have Norton internet security and AVG installed.
- 12-11-2008 #6
wait you have AVG and NIS installed. do both of them have realtime scanning enable? if so then you will get problems with the two clashing. anyway AVG sucks.

Uninstall one of the antivirus (preferably AVG) and then try again.
Try Formatting the USB drive (Warning: Make sure you don't have any valuable data on it)

just one more question. is it NIS 2009?
- 12-11-2008 #9
its NIS 2006 LOL. Hmm if it doesn't work i'll buy a new one then. There's no valuable data on it luckily

Uninstall Norton 2006. It's the biggest bloatware. After uninstallation, reboot the PC and check if the problem still exists.
You must also try formatting the USB drive.
