Problem with Norton Internet Security 2009

Hi,i was wondering if anyone using NIS 2009 has this problem, most the times when i reboot, my computer freezes at desktop and i have to turn off by pressing power button for 5 seconds.
I have been using norton products since i bought my first computer like 8 years ago, and never had any real problems with their products, besides reading allot of bad feedback from users all over the internet, i had no reason to stop using it, until NIS 2009,like i said on allot of reboots it would freeze at the desktop and couldn't do anything, it took me like 3 months of troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstalling programs, many re formats, the last program i suspected to be the problem was NIS 2009,i realized that it didn't get along with something else in my computer my best guess is Spy sweeper and NIS 2009 don't play well together, anyways i finally removed norton and installed Kaspersky and never had that problem again, the reason i bring this thread up is cause i can't believe u don't see more about this compatibility issue anywhere in the internet, being that spy sweeper is one of the best anti spyware programs out there and i'm sure many people use these 2 programs together and must be having the same problem.
So what do you guys think, any other problems with Norton Internet security 2009 u may be experiencing?
P.S, please only talk about NIS 2009 and not previous releases

Oh my, i realized i posted this thread in the wrong room, if someone can tell me how to move it to Software room i will appreciate it, or if a moderator can do it him self please do, my apology i am new to this

First of all, Welcome to this forum.
Would you mind posting your intro here?

Seonldly, im using nis'09 on 4 comps, and i donot have any problem yet. It never ever did hang my system down, or did anything that made me think it to remove.

May be you are right that, it is not compatible with spysweeper. Just tell me one more thing, why would you need spysweeper when u are using Nis '09?

Norton 2009 does have that property of incompatibility with many PCs while you seldom see it in case of Kaspersky.
If any such things ever happen, firstly disable the Other AV or Anti-spyware to avoid conflicts between the two. Also Boot your OS in Safe Mode to check what exactly is the problem.

I use NIS 2009 on my XP and upto now it's fine but my friends have problem with it due to incompatibility with many PCS.

Anyways, KIS 2009 is still a better choice than NIS 2009. You should find a key (from Internet) for it and stick to it.

Well, as far as i know the antispyware capabilities of antivirus programs are not as good as dedicated antispyware programs like Webroot SpySweeper (Although Spysweeper offers antivirus now they are known for their antispyware capablities), i'm not saying they are bad ,just not as good, i had been running both for the last 5 years and never had a problem untill NIS 2009.

Let me say you that there is also a version called Norton Internet Security (a.k.a NIS), that has all those features, which any other AV doesnt have.

I'm sorry, maybe i didn't make my self clear, what i meant was that webroot is known for their antispyware and norton is known for their antivirus and firewall,i know that all internet security suits have antispyware in them but the way i feel is like, it's almost as they just threw it in their suits just to say they have it, they are just not nearly as good as either webroot or spyware doctor (both of which made a name for themselves as great antispyware programs),besides it is ok to run 2 antispyware programs together in your computer with no problems,i used to run webroot spysweeper and spyware doctor together, the 2 best antispyware programs according to many experts, why is it a problem to run with NIS 2009?

hm its not advisable to run two security programs together. but if u say it worked fine with other versions it must be something wrong with NIS. mind trying NAV(norton antivirus) and see if the problem is still there.

I just got off the phone with Webroot support (1.25 hours on hold) The tech stated that it is a known issue and will be addressed in version 6.1 which is due out in Feb 09.

For now he is emailing me some instructions to go back to version 5.5 which is stable with NIS 09.

Note: The tech said when reinstalling 5.5 to make sure that the "Version Gaurd" option was disabled. Other wise the software would just update itself to 6.0.2.39.

    Hope this helps.

Well, thank you very much Kaspersky, you have served well in this time of conflict, but as soon as they fix this problem, i am going back to my beloved Norton Internet Security.
