The Norton 2009 beta program has been launched to allow adventurous users who join, to be the first one to get to use these two future software, tryout the features and provides feedback or bug reports. And the best part is, by joining the beta program, users get to use NIS 09 and NAV 09 for free, with a genuine product key for activation.

New features in Norton Internet Security 2009 and/or Norton AntiVirus 2009:

1. Innovative new architecture dramatically reduces the boot time impact, the scan time, the memory usage as well as the system footprint and the install time.

3. Silent Mode ensures your games and movies are never interrupted by alerts and security updates.
4. Enhanced Browser Protection blocks browser exploits and protects against infected websites (now supports Firefox).
5. Expanded SONAR Protection offers real-time protection against new and unknown threats without requiring the user to make confusing security decisions.
6. Enhanced Identity Safe now includes an interactive tutorial to get users up and running, cloning of your cards importing your data from Internet Explorer and more!
7. Improved Home Network Security Networked devices report their health and status through a visual map.

Symantec has been improving their antivirus program since 2007. I am actually quite impressed with the 2008. I'll wait and see what has the 2009 has to offer.

Symantec still will not get my trust in their products for a long time.

rrd84 was talking about "activation" or keygen or crack for Norton 2008 which shouldn't be discussed here.

Yeah Symantec has been improving a lot. I 've made a table of Symantec products which I already discussed with some people here.

Norton 2006-->Biggest Bloatware
Norton 2007-->Average Bloatware
Norton 2008-->Good product but is still a Bloatware
Norton 2009 (Beta)-->Very improved one and Believe it or not,it is Not a Bloatware

We have got to give credit to Symantec but I would still think twice before buying their products.
