Sudo PPPoE I believe it is under Terminal, set up your internet there.
Your choice, either suffer (this is a security feature) or set up a root user. However, I never recommend using root user, because you might set up something the wrong way, or f*ck something up that you can't fix, and sudo one of the best ways to prevent this, it's to ask if you really want to modify things. If you really want to take that risk and run things as root, (don't say I didn't warn you though) follow the tutorial linked here. Keep in mind, I won't support you any more if you do this, as at this point, you're taking matters into your own hands. Not even I run as root under Linux, and like I said, I never recommend it.2.Password:

Turn off your speakers. If you've got an on/off switch for them, turn them off. Also, have you plugged them in all the way? The final solution I could give off hand, is plug it directly into your computer's sound card. Or if you're feeling lucky with Synaptic, you could reinstall Alsamixer.3.headphone:

A right click 'add to now playing' is possible only if you write a script for it, but as a non-scripter, I can't give you the script to do it. Look it up on GNOME-look.org, and you might find it. As for using VLC for the default, right click on the media files you'd like associated with it, under Properties, Default Programs... right there, change them all to VLC.4.default programs:

Can you tell me what it says you have to install to get it working? Hit the down arrow on that pop-up error it gave you.
