After Google announced the availability of the Chrome OS / Chromium OS source code, one of our engineers (Jon Ursenbach), immediately got to work on compiling the code, trying to see if he could get an instance of Chromium OS running in a virtual machine.

The Linux-based operating system will sport a graphical user interface based on Google's Chrome web browser and will run on systems with either x86 or ARM processors,[3]. Both VMWare and VirtualBox are Virtual PC managers, luffy, that work cross platform. Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris, etc, all are able to use them.

That being said, I believe I'd rather shoot myself then give more data to Google. (Though sadly, I'm using a gmail account now)

Like hellnoire just said, any of them should work. But i advise you to download VMDK because i was unable to boot from VDI (i'm using Virtualbox).

If you're looking for personal opinion on what to install luffy... i use Virtualbox because i find Vmware kinda bloated... but i also respect Vmware so it's hard to say.

Yes, you can use any Google username/password to login.

Not sure if i understand... What is available here is Chrome-OS VMDK and VDI images, you can use them either with VMware Player, Server, Workstation, Fusion, Virtualbox or equivalent on Windows, Linux or Mac.
