OK...my Sony Ericsson phone has just died like 1 week ago and I've already bought Samsung Omnia.
And you know what? This phone turns out to be the most unpleasant phone I've ever used. It's not user-friendly at all - blame it on Windows Mobile. I swear after this I'm never going to purchase a Windows Mobile phone anymore. Either back to Sony Ericsson, or perhaps an Android or a Symbian-based phone.
P.S. I initially wanted to get an iPhone but I found out it can't multi-task - what the ***kThey call me the mysterious one...

You can do it in iPhone OS 4.0......but it's nothing new innovative only on 3GS, so will you get Windows 7 Phone someday in future ;D?

I was thinking of getting me a 4th generation iPhone this fall, but Apple's policies and politics made me change my mind, and now I am thinking of getting me the Android based Samsung i9000 Galaxy S (the phone in action on YouTube).

I agree with Ninja. I'm an HTC person. I use the 8925 (or Tilt as AT&T calls it), it runs Windows Mobile 6.1. I love my phone. The main things I was looking for were Wifi, GPS, and the ability to run word (so I could work on my schoolwork). There's a lot to like about it, but some of the coolest things are the ability to map a network drive, run total commander, send /receive text messages from my PC while it's in the cradle or through wifi when it's not but still on the network, and run OpenVPN.
A couple of my buddies run with the droid and love it, but as much as I am not a M$ fan, I wouldn't trade mine and I'd take it over the Iphone any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I have had it for 2 years now and it's not just a fling. It's the real thing.

I am using HTC D2 currently, and my few friends own samsung and nokia, comparing them i found htc a lot better option, samsung is just java and got a bad touchscreen, nokia is heavy and comparatively bigger in size..
looking into the OS, You can wait for windows 7 to arrive, but then you will need a smartphone with such specs that will cost you a good packet, i will suggest android coz there is a lot of development stuff going on there, Today's most applications choose iphone first and the android next, There is not much development in windows os,( the mozilla people dropped fennec for windows mobile , and im sure many others will follow)....
in a nutshell : HTC with android....
