You can also make iPhone ringtones for free manually with iTunes. You can make ringtones longer than 30 seconds with this method.

1. Add your desired MP3 file to the iTunes playlist.

2. Right-click the song and hit the 'Get Info' option.

3. Click the 'Options' tab on the new window that pops up.

4. Look for 'Start Time' and enter your desired start time. Do the same with 'Stop Time'.

5. Click 'Ok' in the bottom-right corner of the window.

6. Right-click the MP3 file once more and hit the 'Create AAC version' option.

7. Once the MP3 has finished converting, head over to 'My Documents' and click on 'My Music'. Once there, go to iTunes. In that folder, there should be another folder called 'iTunes Music'. Go inside that folder and look for your file within the remaining folders.

8. For this part, you must be able to see extensions of known files (see bottom of post). When you find the file, change the extension from .m4a to .m4r. This will make it a ringtone.

9. Finally, double-click your ringtone and iTunes should add it to your library.

How to view extensions of known files

1. Click the 'Start' button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.

2. Click 'Control Panel'. If 'Control Panel' is not shown, click 'Settings' and then 'Control Panel'.

3. Head into the 'Folder Options' icon.

4. Click the 'View' tab.

5. There should be a line that says 'Hidden files and folders'. Underneath it, check off 'Show hidden files and folders'. Tick 'Do not show hidden files and folders' to disable it.
