I have DSL running through the phone lines in my house and I have one modem hooked up. I was wondering if I could get the internet for another room in my house by buying another modem. I currently use a modem + router for my computers, but this other computer is at the opposite end of the house, so i don't want to run a cable. Wireless is not an option either. Will using two modems in my house work?

i don't know if this can be applicable to you, but there is this thing which u can plug into your wall power socket and use the house wiring as LAN cables... you'd need two, one in the room with the modem and the other in the room which u plan to put a computer... and do take note that the wall sockets got to be in the same "power phase"... =)

but there is a fault in this technology, lightning can easily strike ur modem and computers... kinda risky... =)

Well, the internet is running through the phone line, so anywhere in the house I can hook up a modem where there is a phone jack.

But from what Raymond said, since all those phone jacks are the same "line," i can't have two modems working even if they are connected to a different phone jacks. Is that what you are saying Raymond? Cause I was a little confused when you used the term "phones lines." Does that mean two separate numbers?

And thank you ytkwong for the info, I will look into this power as LAN cable stuff.

My ISP also runs ADSL through phone line. Let's say I have only 1 phone line and I'd like to use 2 modems. The only way I can think of is using a splitter to split 1 rj-11 socket to 2 rj-11 socket. But then I don't think it's possible because you can only run 1 adsl on 1 phone line.

If I need 2 adsl, I need to get the wiring guys and pull a new telephone line.
