    Cool Backup/Restore Windows Server question

I have a Windows 2003 Server [my old PC] that is NOT a domain controller. It is a RAID 1
    configuration.

Here is what I would like to do:

    1. Create a backup "image" of this server using software such as Acronis or
    Ghost.
    2. Replace the Hard Drives with larger capacity ones.
    3. Restore the Image to the new hard drives and make the system partition
    larger.

Any recommendations? I downloaded the trial version of Acronis True Image
Server but I could not get it to work. Their support will not answer back to
me even though it says they provide email support to the trial users. My
    trial has already expired.

    Anyone with experience doing this?

That should work. RAID 1 is only mirror and shouldn't have problems in restoring the image to a larger drive.

Acronis is top-of-the-line imaging software. It should work without problems. If your 'trial period' has expired, they most likely will not 'support' you. A simple work-around would be to download another 'Trial Version' (preferably from a different IP), do your deed, and contact them if needed.

Another suggestion: after you do your 'restore' from your 'day-1' image, promptly do all of your new installs, cleanups, defrags, deletions, tweaks, etc. etc. and then make another image while still on 'trial'. That way you will still have an original ghost, and a tweaked version to fall back on if all else fails.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, after the restore, make sure you update everything before making your 'tweaked ghost.

    Good luck!

I have acronics with serial you don't have to create an image you just connect other HD (if it has an operatin system ors smth just format him and let like storage HD) and with acronis you can clone HD with windows server to the other drive and u with have the same in the new HD.. (sorry about my english)
