Internet Explorer mess up.
Hey all, I have went to a tech forum that is supposed to be for Internet Explorer and they havn't even replied after a few days and I don't have the money to get help from Microsoft so maybe somebody here would be so kind as to point me in the right direstion. I installed IE8 when it came out and I also had one of the multi IE programs installed so I could check my xhtml/css code in IE6. It was causing me problems with Java working in IE because I think it was mixing up the registry and wasn't reading the version right. I then used Revouninstaller to uninstall the multi IE and when it came up with all of the extra registry entries there were over 16,000 and entries and I deleted them all. I knew I shouldn't have and I now know I have made a big mistake because now my IE reads as 4.01. When I try to install IE8 again from Microsoft it says that I have a newer version installed. I have no idea what to do. I can't get help from Microsoft because I don't have money and can't sign up for their tech help. I have Vista 64 bit with x86.

OK, thanx, but how do I do that? I would appreciate any help. Update: I am looking at a tutorial of how to do it now. Thanx for your advice.
Well, I did the uninstall, but it reinstalled IE8 instead of uninstalled it, but fixed the problems I was having with everything else. Weird.
Ok, now it is reading as IE7, but Java is not working like with Pogo.com and I have no settings options on the advance tab in Tools>internet iotions.Last edited by Lateralus; 04-11-2009 at 02:07 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

okay to uninstalle iE8 you should just have to go to uninstall programs and its listed as an update and it will revert back to IE7 automatically. So if you uninstalled IE8 you should automatically have IE7 back
When you say you have no advanced options you mean the screen is clear or nothing is checked. If nothing is checked did you try the restore defaults settings.??

I unsinstalled IE8 back to IE7 and it is fine in that aspect now, butthe advance options screen is clear with no options at all. I had searched a little more on the net and seen that others had this problem and there was a microsoft "Fix it" thing that is supposed to fix it, but it didn't. I havn't had time to do anymore investigating yet.
