    I would recommend TCPOptimizer. I have used it and it works great on XP. Take note that it supposedly works well in Vista as well but not officially stated.

    1. Free Download Manager
    2. Orbit Downloader (free and second best)
    3. Internet Download Manager (shareware and the best)

    All are without ads.

    I can break the 2mbps speed with Internet Download Manager often but for a short time. Free Download Manager can be download like normal or torrent.

    If you use FDM for torrent, will your download speed increases? Or is it normal just like using other torrent program?

    Actually you can take advantage since you are using Virtual Platform you can use IDM trial program / or any trial applications forever. That's a simple trick I do.
