Hmmm... Paint.NET is certainly not a Microsoft's program.

Paint.Net is a Microsoft program...the developer Rick Brewster was HIRED by Microsoft.

Out of those 10, the top four most used and known ones are:

    1. Paint.NET
    2. Virtual PC 2007
    3. Windows SteadyState
    4. SyncToy 2.0

But I don't use any one of them

Actually, there are a lot more free programs by Microsoft (which aren't that useful for home users but some tech geeks love these gems)

Ultimate List of Free Windows Software from Microsoft

Microsoft has over 150 FREE Windows XP, Windows Vista & Office Programs available for download -- finding them all is extremely difficult . . . until now.

Paint.net IS a M$ controlled entity, just as is "Sysinternals" is. Microsoft is not stupid. When they see a good thing that is adding to the power of M$, they want to control it. In the case of Sysinternals, they flat out bought it, continue to support it, but hired Mark Rusonovich (the owner/creator of Systernals) as a lead spokesperson for M$ because they understand that HE can make Windows a better product. It was a win-win for M$, and Rusonovich. Between the 2 co-founders of Microsoft, they missed a combined total of one (1) question on their SATs. Hint: Bill Gates missed ONE (1) question; Paul Allen ACED the test. They may not be our best friends, but neither of them are stupid!
Mankind hates what it fears, and fears what it cannot understand.
Therefore, hatred is a by-product of ignorance!
