Internet Explorer 7
A friend of mine has been having problems with connecting to the Internet. I had a look at his computer and could only connect when activating the guest account or via Safe mode with Networking. Ran Spybot and MS Stinger, but nothing found. Following day I discovered my friend had done a system restore (Oh dear!)...low and behold, now Internet Explorer does not connect at all. His PC connects to the Internet via modem and he has wireless access set up for two laptops, both of which connect via the router. I can ping the router and get a response. I can also send a ping over the internet and get a response, but Internet Explorer will not connect. I've also noticed that the only thing that is showing is the address bar. There are none of the expected icons, i.e., Home, Print, Page, Safety or Tools.
Has anyone come across this before? If so, any suggestions?

Are you able to surf with other browsers...?
I think the system restore has some hands in it. The restoration done might be partial which might have messed up somethings in your pc..

Right click the Toolbar and make sure Menu is ticked.
Maybe update it to IE8.
Or maybe try Internet Options.Advanced and press reset. That should reset Internet Explorer to its original state.Last edited by jock; 01-03-2010 at 08:21 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Internet Explorer
Thanks to all who offered advice...but IE is still not operational. Even went to MS website support and (on my own PC) created a command script to ensure the registry was fine...but this failed to resolve the issue. Installed IE8, but still cannot open it. What I did notice was that on closing down two error messages came up. The first was to tell me that IE failed to start, the 2nd that ACDaemon.exe failed!...could this be part of the problem?

OK...since that doesn't work, try using IEFix Utility...instead.
