XP couldn't recognize blank new CDR

Good afternoon all!
I was preparing some music files for my Flash lectures in the tomorrow morning.
But the problem was that when I inserted a blank new CDR into my DVD-RW rom,
the XP system just kept saying the rom didn't have any writtable media. inside.
I used the XP built-in CD burning function, because it saved the system resources;
I was stuck at the problem until I tried loading Nero 6, and the problem got solved completely.

Why the XP built-in CD burning function couldn't recognize any blank new CDR is still a mystery to me!
Any ideas?

I am not sure why but I've never used the XP built-in CD burning function. Just like XP supports ZIP archive, but still I have PowerArchiver to unzip files. There's also Windows Defender but I never use it.

I never trust Microsoft products other than using the OS.

Well, one more fact about bad Microsoft programs.

For burning CDs/DVDs/VCDs etc. use Nero, it's the ultimate program, and if you ask me use Nero 6, cause Nero 7 never made it for me, too much add-ons and some stupid codec that doesn't allow some PCs to read the burned DVDs.

Stick with Nero 6! ;)
