    Hello.

Recently I noticed that I am unable to use WLM 8.0. When I run it, I can see the process "msnmsgr.exe" in my task manager, yet nothing shows up.

I've tried to reinstall it, no help. I've tried to install 8.5 beta, still no help. They all had exactly the same problem.

I'm using WinXP SP2 Simplified Chinese version.

    Please help =/

    Regards,

    ice

No idea what's causing this weird behavior. If there's no solution to fix the problem and you need to use WLM, try using a clone called Alvaro's Messenger.

Thanks Raymond, the problem seems to be solved.

I am now 80% sure that it's the illegal install of Windows Media Player 11 that's causing the problem...

Illegal install of WMP can cause this problem? Maybe it's an unstable cracked version of WMP :(

OK, I finally got the correct solution.

    Heres the moment of truth:

YOU NEED TO RESET YOUR ROUTER FOR IT TO WORK!!!!

Don't ask me why, because I dunno. Yet it works that way.

Seems to solve a few people's problem by resetting the router. Can't explain why... maybe it's because of cheap routers.

I noticed mostly this happens to people who use D-Link router. I am definitely avoiding D-Link and LinkSys routers in future for me and my clients.
