Thumb drive not shown in My Computer, no letters are assigned to it
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/998562
i have the same problem with the TS.
Greetings.
Just a few days back, I plug my 2gb Pendrive into the laptop and nothing showed up in My Computer. I thought it was just a simple error so I restarted the laptop. Unfortunately, no cure. The same problem persisted.
I googled for solutions, repair XP installation but nothing worked. The last thing I would like to do is reformat.
From google, there r many kinds of situations. Mostly are telling me to go disk management but my disk management is empty except for my DVD-ROM. Only the Device Manager detects the Pendrive. Another thing is that the system tray also showed that I plugged in a Pendrive and can be safely removed. No letters were assigned to that Pendrive also...
I'm out of ideas here and hope for someone to solve this case.
Pls.... Thank you...

Try plugging your usb to another computer and see if it works or not.
If no, then you have a faulty usb drive.
If yes, then we'll have to narrow down the problem on your computer.

No, I am asking about the 2gb Pendrive that you're having problems.
Try plugging that problematic pendrive to another computer.

OK, so F drive is your CD ROM.
Can you confirm that drive C, D and E is your hard drive's partition?
When you installed Windows the first time, do you still remember how many drive letter were there? Did you create new partitions after that?
You can try this. Download USB Deview, run it and Uninstall your thumb drive. When you plug in your thumb drive after that, Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers and assign a new drive letter.

the problem i think is a system problem.
