None-They all have a weak link or two in the chain.I'll go stand-alone packages over a suite every time.

I agree. Learn it from my friend. I use KIS 2009 but after hearing what he said, I might change to KAV and Comodo firewall.

Should 1 part of the suite be compromise, the entire suite will be affected and render it useless...

No security suite is the best. All can be broken somehow.

I prefer not to put all of my eggs in one basket.

EDIT: Though, it is handy to learn only one interface. The best suite is the one that you feel comfortable using.

I like Avast and Avira but to me it seems their UI could use a make over.

agree with you. avast needs to be lighter and a better interface. Avira needs to voluntarily stop their free product from being nagware

As for Avira free and the notifications when using XP SP3:
go to - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy -
Software Restrictions - Additional Rules - New Path Rule - Browse to Program Files - avnotify.exe - Disallowed - apply

Certainly KIS is the best suite.
    Personally i use a stand-alone antivirus and a stand-alone firewall.
