Can virus change the name of a pendrive?

My question is this, my father's pendrive name was Kingston Removable Disk all this while. Then one day, it became Removable Disk just like that. Is that a virus?

I did a scan with KIS 2010 with heuristics set to high, it was clean. So is it a virus that cause the name to change?
Thoughts are like a never ending ocean where it is deep, endless and dangerous

I plugged in all 4 different brands of USB flash drive and they all ended up having the name Removable Disk. I think there's nothing to worry about although a virus can easily change the name of the drive.

It might be an update to Windows that changed the 'name' of what Windows refers to the device as. Soon there will be 100's of names in the market. Windows is more easily adapted to giving a generic name to ALL of them, rather than trying to detect a Brand Name.
