Effect of autorun.ini
I scanned my pen drive using bullguard. It removed a virus called trojan.vaklik.ax. When I browsed my pen drive an autorun.ini was there. I uploaded to virustotal and many AVs found viruses in it. Is the autorun.ini effective without the trojan since bullguard already removed it? Can anyone clarify about this? Thanks

Nope, the autorun.inf is only a file that Windows reads and determine where to run a file.
So if that file is removed, your computer will not have any effect.

Autorun.ini files are used by virri to get windows to run the actual virus without any input from the user like double clicking on the file. If you open the file in a text editor you will most probably find it calling an .exe file.

So if the .exe which is directed by autorun to run is deleted by antivirus, the autorun.ini file has no effect? Fortunately, I set KIS to disable autorun in hard drives and removable drives when I had it in my system. My present antivirus removed the trojan but not the autorun.ini file.
