    Control-Shift-Esc

Hit those three buttons at once, then go to Processes, then sort by CPU and by RAM usage. Tell us what they are and we can help.

    Or post a HijackThis log.

    Kill Sidebar.exe

Then, follow these steps to make it not load on boot.

It's not a virus, but it's the sidebar of Windows Vista. It's VERY prone to doing that, making people's computers very VERY slow, as you've found out.

Yeah, I disabled Sidebar on my machines too. The funny thing is that the people around me has Sidebar running with so many gadgets. 1 time I disabled Sidebar on their machine, they like get mad at me. Since then No more advice from me. Sometimes I heard them say "how come my computer is too slow?" I think who care.

Well that's the thing. The sidebar/gadgets of Windows built-in are slow. If you want something like that, add Rainmeter if you ask me.
