Now that sets me into thinking...wouldn't it be far easier to just download the update instead - smaller size than the pirated Windows SP3??? Or wait - did u buy a pirated disc of XP cause I do know that in Malaysia, there are such discs being sold but not sure about India...
And yes, why not you try using a download manager to speed up downloads? They call me the mysterious one...
my motto is...when it's hot, chill baby

No, the man from the store from where i bought my pc installed xp sp3.. I asked him for a legit one but he told that they're not supplied genuine ones.. I asked him for the image of the disc of that xp but that dumb @$$ didn't give that either..
And I've tried IDM and Orbit.. Don't know whats wrong with 'em..

In that case, you can easily turn your pirated Windows XP SP3 to genuine by changing the license key (if you know your genuine key that is
)
Manual way:

Using Windows Product Key Update Tool:

Or use 3rd-party keyfinder programs to change it (e.g. Magical JellyBean will do the work for you):
View and Retrieve or Change Windows (XP, Vista, 2003, 2000 and more) and Office (XP, 2003, 92) Product Key or CD Key

Even in that case, i doubt whether I'll be able to find a genuine key for it as who's so fool to post genuine keys openly on the net..
Though, I've some keys but don't know whether they're legit or not..
Seems that the time has come to start experimenting...

I thought you said you had a legal WinXP SP2??? You can try using that key...
- 02-10-2010 #36
Yeah i have... But i was thinking to contest my SP3 directly into a legit one directly...

Btw, i think, i can also use my genuine vista to download and upgrade to 7 via windows update.. Can it be..?.
- 02-10-2010 #37
No you can't just do that...it won't work...
The "Windows 7 Upgrade Option" has ended...
- 02-10-2010 #38
Shit.... Then i'm left with only option which We've discussed above.. I'll give that a try.

I think that upgrade promo is for those who purchased windows vista (or pc with pre-installed Vista) starting on June 2009. The upgrade is not available through download. Getting the OS is free but depending on where you bought your copy/PC, you have to pay some fees such as shipment.

Right, I know that
And yes I might as well point this out:
Seems like if you buy a boxed retail copy of Vista, you would no longer get the 'free upgrade'...if you buy a pre-installed Vista machine during the promo period, perhaps yes you're still able to get the 'free upgrade'...The Windows 7 Upgrade Option program for packaged copies of Windows Vista has ended.
