Bug Anybody still using windows defender?

As MSE gains good reputation, I think Windows Defender should be a product. But the problem is that it cannot get the latest update from its server. If I try to manually update it from its interface it cannot bring latest update as published in MICROSOFT MALWARE PROTECTION CENTER.
    http://www.microsoft.com/security/po...s/ADL.aspx#top
But when I download that updater file and install it, windows defender shows correct database version.
From windows defender interface I can get updates for only 2/3 times a week whereas microsoft publishes updates more than once a day. I think this a problem in windows update server. I didn't faced a similar problem with MSE.
For this problem in updating I disabled windows defender as an additional antispyware. Are u still using windows defender? And do u know a fix to this problem?

I'm used to disable "Windows Defender" real time protection(Also known as "Windows Schifezzer" (*) in Italy) 'cause I prefer more reliable antimalware like MalwareBytes' AntiMalware or PREVX for instance

(*) "Schifezza" in english is Rubbish. "Schifezzer" is only a play on words

I doubt Microsoft would want to actively provide update on Windows Defender when they have Microsoft Security Essentials.

After you install Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Defender will be turn off. I see no point of using Windows Defender.

I don't want to install MSE as I am using KIS CBE Win7. I just wanted to get extra protection of an antispyware with windows defender.

MBAM and SAS do not provide realtime protection in their free version. Among the well known products only Windows defender, Spybot, Spyware Terminator, Iobit Security 360 provide realtime protection for free. But Spybot and ST are resource intensive and I don't trust Iobit anymore.
