Speed up downloading and uploading torrents
HI there everybody. Today i am posting some methods(say tricks) to speed up dl and ul torrents.
I am not a COPY-CAT, so dont report me as this is my own tutorial. However thats a nice tutorial started by mETRIX: http://www.raymond.cc/forum/tutorial...-torrents.html
In my case i will be using utorrent as my torrent client.
STEPS:-
- Get utorrent from : http://download.utorrent.com/1.8.5/utorrent.exe
- Install it(Hope you know installing it)
- After installing, open it.

- Click on Options>Preferences>Connection>Enter 8080 in the Port used for incoming connections as given in the screenshot.

- Click on Aplly, then OK.
- Then go to Options>Preferences>Bandwidth

Then enter the following values in the required fields.
Maximum upload rate : 100(try 60-70)
Tick Alternate Upload Rate........... : 100(same as above)
Maximum Download Rate : 150
Global Maximum no. of connections : 200
Maximum no. of connections per torrent : 50
No. of upload slots per torrent : 4
Tick Use additional upload slots if upload speed <90%(less than 90%)
Some settings may be present same to same by default. But make sure that these are correct. The upload and download speed setting may differ from connection to connection.
Mine is 2Mbit/s or 2Mb/s
b= bit
B=Byte - Again in Preferences<BitTorrent, under Protocol Encryption, set Outgoing to enabled.

- Again in Preferences,<Advanced<On right side, search for net.max_halfopen, set its value to ~50(~ = similar to). I use 50.

- Click Apply<OK.
You have done your work for setting up utorrent for optimal settings.
[U]NOTE: The most important part is to set the upload speed to 60-70KB/s because the server from which you are downloading the content(file) also wants some speed. Same theory: Do Good, Have Good.
MOST IMP: Always seed but in limit of ypur bandwidth.
Posting the port forwarding part in some time.Last edited by narender; 11-08-2009 at 05:03 PM. Reason: posting images

Is this general or for only this MTNL T-KD 318-EUI Router?
- 11-08-2009 #3
It is general setting for any utorrent user depending on the speed of the internet connection. Not only for the MTNL Router. Sorry but i have posted the other topic in tutorials section.
