Spin Make Xbox share the internet of a PC/Laptop with WLAN

How to connect your Xbox to the internet via your PC/Laptop with a Wireless connection.

If your desktop computer is connected to the internet using a WLAN PCi Card or a WLAN USBstick you can share this connection with your Xbox 360 without having to buy a Xbox Wireless Lan Stick. (Saving yourself around 79€)

    What you need:
Windows XP SP2 or higher, Vista or 7.
An UTP Network cable (Wich gets delivered with the Xbox 360)
A desktop / laptop with WLAN

    XP SP2 or Higher
    Step 1
Connect your UTP Network cable to the computer/laptop and to the back of the Xbox
    Step 2
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
You'll see 2 connections here: Wireless and LAN
LAN = Xbox, Wireless is your PC's current connection
    Step 3
Right-click your Wireless connection and select properties.
    Step 4
Go to the advanced tab and check off: “Allow other network users to connect trough this computer's internet connection” and click Apply or OK. And wait for the process to finish, this takes a few minutes.
    Step 5
Right click the Wirelss connection and click “Enable”
    Step 6
Once your Wireless connection is connected again, you'll see “Shared” at the information part.
Right click your LAN connection and choose REPAIR
    Step 7
When this is done, go to your Xbox dashboard and re-test your connection to Xbox Live and your PC, if this fails, go to Console Settings -> Network : and put everything back to default. Try again and it should work.

    VISTA
    Step 1
Connect your UTP Network cable to the computer/laptop and to the back of the Xbox
    Step 2
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Search for: Network Connections and click it
You'll see 2 connections here: Wireless and LAN
LAN = Xbox, Wireless is your PC's current connection
    Step 3
Right-click your Wireless connection and select properties.
    Step 4

    Step 5
Right click the Wirelss connection and click “Enable”
    Step 6
Once your Wireless connection is connected again, you'll see “Shared” at the information part.
Right click your LAN connection and turn it off, and back on again (Resets the IP stuff)
    Step 7
When this is done, go to your Xbox dashboard and re-test your connection to Xbox Live and your PC, if this fails, go to Console Settings -> Network : and put everything back to default. Try again and it should work.

    Windows 7
    Step 1
Connect your UTP Network cable to the computer/laptop and to the back of the Xbox
    Step 2
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Search for: Network Connections and click it
You'll see 2 connections here: Wireless and LAN

When this is done, go to your Xbox dashboard and re-test your connection to Xbox Live and your PC, if this fails, go to Console Settings -> Network : and put everything back to default. Try again and it should work.

    NOTE:
Some firewalls BLOCK this by default (example: BitDefender IS, Norton IS/360,...) You can configure it manually.

Trying the same with the Playstation 3 DOES NOT work most of the time. Xbox is made by Microsoft and therefor has compatibility with ICS while Sony used a Linux enviroment for Playstation3 and doesn't support the same ICS.

Habe alles befolgt doch es funktioniert nicht!

    Hallo!
    Mfg Blizzard22

An alternate way to hook up your 360 to the internet via your laptop/ PC is to use a cross-over ethernet cable. These cables go for around $5. You connect to your WiFi via your laptop. Then run the cable from the ethernet port of your laptop to your Xbox.

Then in Vista, go to Network and Sharing Center and then click Manage Network Connections on the left pane. Select both your LAN and Wireless Network Icon, right click and select Bridge connection. Then turn on your Xbox and you'll be connected to Xbox Live. In some cases, you might to reset all the network settings on your Xbox to default for this to work.

I use the Wii because of it's built in wireless...among other reasons.
