From my desktop computer running Nero Burning ROM 8 in Windows XP SP3, nero.exe process takes up 33MB memory. But on Windows Vista with the latest Nero 9, nero.exe process takes only 29MB. Not much difference but at least it doesn’t take more memory than the previous version. Many people criticized that Nero is a bloatware because it includes way too many extra tools. You can however choose Custom during installation and install only what you need. As for me, I only select Nero Burning ROM, Nero RescueAgent, Nero InfoTool, Nero DriveSpeed and Nero WaveEditor.

The trial version of Nero 9 (Nero-9.0.9.4b_trial.exe) is a whopping 370MB in size but the retail version of Nero 9 which I am purchasing for the winner will be downloading a 523MB installer. (Nero-9.0.9.4_esd_asknet.exe) I am actually still downloading the 523MB Nero 9 setup file and will report on what is the difference between this one and the trial version. You will need to have Microsoft .NET 3.0 installed in order to run Nero 9.
