QIP is a free unique closed source computer program for immediate cross-Internet communication. The basic functionality of QIP enables its users to see who else is online and available and then easily contact them with text messages in real time sent through a public server. This program is ad-free and it’s lightweight. It has been around for quite a while and they have been updating it all the while. I can confirm with you that this program connects to ICQ server and acts like a alternative client for ICQ but I am not sure why I couldn’t find any of that information on the QIP website.
Some of the features I really like about QIP that ICQ doesn’t have.
– No advertisements. (Yes, ICQ ads can be removed but must be cracked)
– Able to run multiple instances (Run many QIP at a time)
– Able to view IP address for some people
– Able to check the time that they login to ICQ

– Able to remove yourself from user’s contact list
