You can’t find a product called Security Suite CBE 2009 from the official Kaspersky’s website. This version of Kaspersky is not for sale but it is provided for free by Computer Bild, one of the best selling German language computer magazine in Europe. If you didn’t know, Computer Bild has been providing this free version of Security Suite CBE for a few years already. Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 2009 is a computer security protection software for Windows system that includes antivirus, antimalware, firewall, antispam, proactive defense, application filtering, antiphishing, network attack blocker, antidialer, and banner ad blocker.
Actually Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 2009 is exactly the same as Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 v8.0.0.504 except that it is re-branded to another name and uses German language interface. Normally if you are using other language versions of Kaspersky, you can easily switch it to English language by hitting the F12 key but it won’t work on Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 2009.
After taking a break for nearly 3 weeks because of my wedding, today I am back sharing with you guys on how to obtain a license key for Kaspersky Security Suite CBE, where to download the latest version of Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 2009 and how to permanently change the Kaspersky Security Suite CBE German language to English.
1. Go to this page and fill up the form to register for an account at computerbild.de.
2. Check your email. You should get an email from ComputerBild with confirmation link to activate your account.
3. Check the second checkbox to request for the Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09 license key and click the “Lizenzschlüssel anfordern” button.
4. Check your email again and this time you’ll get an email containing the license key to activate Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 2009. (The license key that you get will always be the same. So don’t bother requesting multiple times with different accounts)
5. Download latest Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 2009 and install. Now everything is in German. If you can understand German language, then you don’t really need to change the language to English. For others, continue the steps.
6. After installation and Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09 is running, click the Einstellungen button on the top right to bring up the settings window.
7. Click Parameter and uncheck Selbstschutz aktiveren. Click OK to close the Einstellungen window.
8. Go to Start > Run, type regedit and click OK. Navigate to the following path in the Registry Editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP8\environment
9. Look for Localization and double click to edit the string.
10. Change the value data from de to en.
11. You can either Restart your computer or terminate Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09 and run it again to see the changes. See the image below, Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09 in ENGLISH!
If you go to the license tab, you should see that the Kaspersky license validity period expires on 9/13/2009 with 82 days remaining. Not to worry on that because Computer Bild has been providing updated license key since 2007 to keep the product activated. Oh, this license key can ONLY be used on Kaspersky Security Suite CBE and not on either Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 or Kaspersky Antivirus 2009.
